Couric Graduated Yorktown High in Arlington, VA in 1975 where she was high school cheerleader and intern at Washington D.C. all-news radio WAVA. åÊCouric attended college at University of Virginia. åÊWhile at UVA she held several positions at the award-winning daily newspaper,åÊThe Cavalier Daily.åÊåÊShe was also chosen to be a Senior Resident ofåÊThe Lawn. åÊKatie’s father John was a pr executive and news editor at the The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and United Press in Washington D.C. åÊThe newswoman’s grandparents on her mothers side were Jewish immigrants from Germany and on her father’s side, Couric traced her ancestry back to a French orphan who immigrated to the United States and became a cotton broker.
