As one of the most interesting duck commanders you will ever meet, Si Robertson has gained national attention as the one of the corny leading actors on A&E’s mega hit—Duck Dynasty. Duck Dynasty is a comedy-reality that follows the entire Robertson clan including patriarch and Si’s brother—Phil Robertson and his son Willie Robertson. The show rakes in on average about 8 million viewers per episode and topples American Idol for the top spot slot. Si is one of the most popular characters on the show and uses his quick wit and made-up jargon to bring drama and fun to the series.
Born Silas Merritt Robertson, on April 27, 1948 in Vivian, Louisiana, Si is not only a reality hit television star, he is a natural duck hunter and duck call reed maker. He has been married to Christine Raney since 1971 and they share two children—Trasa Lee and Scott Merritt. Born into a family of six children, Si came from humble roots but managed to attend Louisiana Tech University before dropping out and then being drafted into the Vietnam War. A war vet proud to his name, Si recounts many Vietnam stories on the show. One of his most renowned possessions is a plastic Tupperware cup that is almost always found in his hand on the show. Si explains that it was a gift from his mom while serving in the war and he has never been seen without it since. Famous for his iced tea drinks, Si can often be found lugging around a cooler full of the southern favorite drink almost everywhere he goes.
Si has coined his own unique lingo that has quickly taken the show by storm. Some of his favorite quoted words to use are “Hey”, “Heifers” “It’s on like Donkey Kong” and “That’s a fact Jack!” These Si-isms can be found on many of his merchandise sold through the Duck Dynasty namesake.
While the success of the duck call has made the entire family wealthy, Si pulls in most of millions from his popularity on the Mega A&E hit series. He is estimated to be worth around 5 million dollars. He also has a memoir that he is set to soon release—with thousands of copies already pre-sold. Si does several appearances related to Duck Dynasty and the clan receives sales from the hundreds of Duck Commander and Duck Dynasty merchandise and products found in Wal-Mart and other leading retailers globally.
Si, like the entire Robertson Clan, have a very strong Christian faith. Their love for God and ducks is what they pride themselves on and has become a family mantra.
While Si is worth several million, the $200,000 an episode contract with A&E hit is set to change and is expected to rise several thousands more.
