Sherri Evonne Shepherd was born April 22, 1967 in Chicago, Ill. She was raised in Chicago and its suburbs. She now lives in New York. Her parents are Lawrence and LaVerne Shepherd. She is married to Lamar Sally and has one child, Jeffrey Charles Tarplay, with her ex-husband Jeff Tarpley. Shepherd is the eldest of three sisters and was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness.
Since 2007, Shepherd has been a co-host on daytime talk show “The View.” She had been a frequent guest co-host in 2006. She also hosts the “Newlywed Game. ”Shepherd’s work earned her a Daytime Emmy Award in 2009 for Outstanding Talk Show Host. She continues to do stand-up comedy in Los Angeles. Shepherd was a celebrity contestant on “Dancing With the Stars” in 2012 and was eliminated in the fourth week.
