In 1996, Deen opened her first restaurant in Savannah. Her two sons helped her run the establishment. USA Today awarded the restaurant International Meal of the Year in 1999. The restaurant led to her first book of the same name as the business, The Lady and Sons. After the hit release of the book, Deen found her place on television. Her first show was called Afternoon Tea, and it aired in 2001. A year later, Deen had her own show called Paula’s Home Cooking. There have been several smaller shows where Deen has made appearances with her sons. Deen won a Daytime Emmy Award in 2007 for her Paula’s Home Cooking show.
It is estimated that the net worth of Paula Deen was at $16 million. After recently being fired from Food Network, Deen’s net worth has gone down slightly to about $10 million because she does not have the television publicity that she once had.
