Raised in Philadelphia, Kevin Hart learned early to use his talent for making people laugh as a defense mechanism. Hart was raised by his mother while his drug addicted father was in and out of jail. Hart found laughter allowed him to escape family struggles and control his anger. After finishing up at George Washington High, he moved to Massachusetts. Working as a shoe salesman, he eventually found his way to comedy stages. After an awkward start, he won several competitions.
Hart’s true success though has been in his live stage work. He has toured the world, selling out everywhere he goes. He worked on the Comedy Central specials I’m a Grown Little Man and Seriously Funny, both of which spawned from successful tours. He parlayed this into three concert films, Seriously Funny, Laugh at My Pain and 2013’s Let Me Explain, all of which he executive produced.
As his popularity continues to grow, Hart is staying incredibly busy. He’s currently looking at no less than six upcoming film projects. They include Grudge Match with Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro, Ride Along with Ice Cube, a remake of the 80s classic About Last Night and Get Hard with Will Ferrell. Hart is currently starring in a BET hit series, The Real Husbands of Hollywood, a faux reality show.
Hart has won a number of awards and hosted the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards as well as Saturday Night Live.
Hart is a divorced father of two. His ex-wife is a comedian too and both have used their acrimony as fodder for their acts. With no let up of work in sight, there’s no doubt that Kevin Hart’s current net worth of $9 million is only the beginning.
