American rapper and vocalist Kristopher Campbell, more commonly referred to as K Camp, was born on April 27, 1990, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He grew up a shy child in Atlanta, Georgia, until the middle of high school, when he began performing as part of a group called HBC. Not long after, the unit disbanded due to a variety of reasons, though it was primarily a lack of drive by almost everyone. Although K Camp had no aspirations of turning his hobby into a career, he was more focused on music, and he performed and recorded by himself after the group separated.
In 2009, K Camp released “All Night”, a party anthem that garnered him a foothold in the Atlanta rap scene. To further popularize his name, he promoted his music via underground releases such as In Due Time, hosted by the notable DJ Drama, Show Money, and Fan4life. His hit single “Money Baby” topped out at #34 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and #20 on both the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart and the Rap Songs chart. In 2014, K Camp signed with Interscope Records and released the Extended Play (EP) In Due Time, featuring his most well-known song to date, “Cut Her Off”. In addition to reaching #60 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the smash hit earned K Camp two Black Entertainment Television (BET) Hip Hop Award nominations, one for Track of the Year and one for Best Club Banger. It was also certified platinum in the United States by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), meaning it sold more than one million copies.
The XXL Magazine selected K Camp to be part of its 2015 Freshman Class. His first album, Only Way Is Up, is slated for release on September 4, 2015. His current net worth is estimated to be around $2 million.
