Amal Alamuddin was born in Lebanon to a wealthy family, but fled the civil-war torn Beirut area with her parents when she was 2 years old. They landed in the Gerrards Cross, a small town in Buckinghamshire in the United Kingdom. Alamuddin’s father is a retired business professor who moved back to the family’s roots in Lebanon. Alamuddin’s mother, Baria Alamuddin, is an accomplished journalist and the foreign editor of the Arab newspaper Al hayat. She has interviewed many Heads of States including Margaret Thatcher. She has also made regular appearances on CNN, Al-Jazeera, and the BBC.
Baria still resides in Buckinghamsire, which is also where her daughter, an international citizen who speaks French, Arabic, and English officially resides as well. Alamuddin’s grandmother was the first woman to graduate American University in Beirut. Alamuddin was featured on a Tumblr blog as the Hottest Barrister in London. The webmaster specifically stated Alamuddin was “…achieving the seemingly unattainable ideal of contemporary femininity: she is both breathtakingly beautiful and formidably successful,” She also has approximately 1,800 followers on twitter including Ashton Kutcher and Julia Gillard – the former prime minister of Australia.
Of course the big news these days (September 2014), is that George Clooney and Amal have finally tied the knot and are were recently married in Venice, Italy!
